In this blog, we will briefly introduce you to the process of making Handpan instruments.
It all starts with the selection of steel grade.
This is an endless field for experimentation. Each grade of steel can produce its own unique tone, taking into account the processes that each craftsman chooses to make the instrument.
The shell (sphere segment) is made from a sheet of steel. There are several different ways to make a shell. It can be made by hand by knocking out different types of hammers, stretched by hydroforming, or using a deep drawing press.
When the shell is ready, we begin the process of making a specific instrument.
